Algoma University and the Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Athletics Program are pleased to announce that Milan Acimovic has joined the men's basketball program for the 2017-18 season.
"We are pleased that Milan has committed to the Thunderbirds. Milan rebounds on both ends of the floor. He is a scrappy player who will develop into a solid player," said men's Head Coach
Thomas Cory.
Acimovic is a 6'6", 195-pound small forward from Toronto, Ontario. He joins the Thunderbirds from A Y Jackson Secondary School where he played for the Jaguars. With the Jaguars, he averaged 22 points a game, shot 80 per cent from the charity stripe, and 60 per cent from the field. He was Captain of his squad and a tournament MVP.
Outside of basketball, Acimovic is a lifeguard and swimming instructor.
He is also an Honour Roll student. Acimovic is receiving a scholarship to help offset the cost of tuition.
Acimovic will be studying in Algoma U's three-year Bachelor of Arts in Economics program.
"I chose to attend Algoma U because of the great location, academic programs, and opportunities for me as a student-athlete. In addition, Algoma U provides the opportunity to engage with knowledgeable and caring faculty, which would help me keep my grades up while developing my basketball career," said Acimovic.
