Why Choose Algoma U

1301

Algoma University is located in the heart of the Great Lakes nestled along the shores of the St. Mary's River in beautiful Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and has been educating the north for over 50 years. With over 3000+ students across its campuses, we offer a variety of both undergraduate and newly expanding masters programs.

With over 30 different academic fields of study to choose from, spanning the liberal arts, sciences, and professional disciplines. All of our programs offer undergraduate research opportunities and hands-on learning. All class sizes are capped, meaning that you have more one-on-one interactions with our knowledgeable and caring faculty. Our staff and faculty will get to know you on a first name basis and will work hard to make all of your dreams a success. The cornerstones to an Algoma degree and education are the community approach, one-on-one instruction, and a commitment and support that are geared towards your success inside and outside of the classroom.

As a partner with Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig (SKG), we also have a special mission to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Anishinaabe (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) populations and other communities in Northern Ontario. Over 13 percent of our students self-identify as Anishinaabe, while another 27 percent come from outside of Canada, giving Algoma University one of the most diverse campuses in Ontario. We embrace and foster diversity, equity and inclusion as we look to cultivate and nurture differing perspectives and the value that comes from it.
