"Tae" means the "Foot", "Kwon" means the "Fist" and "Do" means the "Way". It is one of the most sophisticated self-defense arts from the Orient. The martial art of Tae Kwon Do allows a participant to use his or her hands and feet to block, retaliate, strike and attack for self-defense purposes. These skills are known to have saved many lives on numerous occasions. In recent years, Tae Kwon Do has also developed into a modern international amateur sport without sacrificing the martial art spirit and tradition.
