Both the Women's and Men's Curling teams are travelling to Guelph, Ontario to compete in the OUA Curling Championships. The Championship bonspiel is being held at the Guelph Curling Club and runs from February 13th to the 17th.
The Algoma Women's Curling team consists of Sarah Dipasquale (lead), Allie Lucente (second), Breanna Hamilton (vice skip) and Anik Graves (skip). Alex Cote-O'Brien is also on the exam but will not be competing due to an injury. Josh Porco is the Head Coach of Algoma Women's Curling team.
Head Coach Josh Porco said "The Algoma U women's curling team is looking forward to these championships. They have been working hard all season and have performed well in the local league. Our pool at OUA's is a tough one but the team is up for the challenge."
The Thunderbird Men's team consists of Al-Amin Abubakar (lead), Kennedy Uwaechi (lead), Erk Weise (second), Noah Graves (vice-skip) and Jared Kelly (skip). Tom Coulterman is the Head Coach of the Algoma Men's Curling team.
Head Coach Tom Coulterman "The Algoma University men's curling team will, in all likelihood, be the least experienced team at the OUA men's curling championship. However, they are definitely looking forward to the challenge of competing at what will be the first OUA Curling Championship for many of them. What they lack in experience, they certainly make up for it with enthusiasm." He added: "As their coach, this will also be the first OUA Curling championship for me as well. I am looking forward to it and the opportunity to renew acquaintances with many of the other coaches who will be there as well.":
