Thunderbirds Take on Two Toronto Teams

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 (TORONTO, Ont): This past weekend, the Thunderbirds headed to Toronto to face both the UofT Varsity Blues and TMU Bold. To kick start the weekend, the teams went up against the Varsity Blues on Friday. The women's team tried to pull through a little more in the last quarter. Breaking 20 points in that fourth quarter, it still wasn't enough to make up for the differences in the first three. The top scorer of the game was Kaila Fong with 18 points, followed closely by Bethany Belaktsis with 17 points. The final score of the game was 91-56 for UofT.

The men's team kept the points neck in neck with Toronto for the majority of the game. They reached half time with a three point deficit to UofT. Although they began to slow in the third quarter, it was in the last quarter in which UofT pulled ahead, leaving the score 82-62. Top scorer of the game was Johan Germain with 15 points, followed closely by Adrian Deere with 14 points.

On Saturday, the teams played against TMU Bold, formerly known as the Ryerson Rams. Our women's team started things off really strong in the first quarter with only a three point deficit. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain this momentum, and lost 91-40. Top scorer of the game was Stephanie Marin with 9 points, closely followed by both Gracie Rae Batongbakal and Kaila Fong with 8 points.

The men's team also faced a tough loss, despite picking things up in the second quarter. The final score was 94-45 for TMU. Top scorer of the game was Adrian Deere with 17 points.

Next weekend, the teams go up against the Guelph Gryphons here at the GLC! Stay tuned at halftime for a chance to win a Pino's Get Fresh gift card!
