Algoma vs. Western Soccer Weekend Recap

(SAULT STE. MARIE, On.): This past weekend the teams faced Western for their home opener weekend. 

Date: August 31st & September 1st
Location: 750 North Street, Sault Ste. Marie

Women's Game 1 Recap:
Within the first two minutes of the game, the team came out strong with a goal by Berlyn Killoran. We saw some stellar shapes and skills from the team overall. It is evident that there has been a lot of development from last year, as we saw a stronger dynamic on the field. With Western's Thomas scoring two goals in the first half, we entered into halftime with high hopes. Nearing the end of the second half, Western managed to score two more goals by Dubois-Phillip and Bilotta. Goalkeeper Victoria Fernandes had 12 saves.

Men's Game 1 Recap:
The majority of the men's game was spent with the teams battling it out on the field with a score of 0-0. Samuel Babalola scored Algoma's first goal of the men's season at the 72:00 minute mark. Despite the potential for a win for the team, it was Western's Saadi to answer back with a goal in the 86:00 minute, ending the game with a tie 1-1. Goalkeeper Joshua Bondoc had one save.
