The Algoma University Thunderbirds are excited to announce the commitment of Christopher Akavak-Hylton to the men's basketball program.
Originally from Toronto, Christopher is a forward/center with a strong physical presence who brings valuable collegiate experience from his time at Niagara County Community College. Starting basketball at just five years old, he's developed into a tough and dependable player known for his strength and team-first attitude.
"Chris brings size and physicality to our team. He is focused on the long term which fits into the type of players our program is looking for. We are excited to have Chris a part of the upcoming season," says Head Coach Ryan Vetrie.
Christopher describes himself as a helpful teammate who brings size and physicality to practices, helping push the team to new heights. Off the court, he's also passionate about kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, showcasing his athleticism across multiple disciplines.
He will be studying Business Administration at Algoma University and shared that he chose Algoma because he's ready to fulfill his goal of playing university-level basketball.
