Logan Whitmell Returns Home to Join Thunderbird Men's Basketball

The Algoma Thunderbirds are proud to announce the commitment of Logan Whitmell, a versatile forward from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to the men's basketball program!

A White Pines C&VS graduate, Logan has been playing basketball since the 4th grade and brings experience from teams like Steel City Slam, White Pines Wolverines, and the Canadore Panthers, where he was named Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year.

Logan is a power forward who excels as a floor spacer and paint presence, contributing on both ends of the court. Offensively, he stretches the floor with his shot-making ability, and defensively, he's a tough and physical presence inside.
"I'm a very hard worker looking to grow as a person and as a student," says Whitmell.

He'll be studying Anishinaabe Studies at Algoma University.

Logan chose Algoma for its top-tier athletic facilities, dedicated coaching staff, and the opportunity to continue his postsecondary education close to home.

"We are all excited to have Logan joining our program for the upcoming season. He has the ability to play inside and out both offensively and defensively. Logan brings experience playing in college for the past two years. It just made sense that he found himself back home in the Sault playing at the USPORTS level. He is up for the challenge and we know he will help this program move in the right direction," says Head Coach, Ryan Vetrie.
