(HAMILTON, Ont.): The Algoma Thunderbirds men's soccer team picked up their first point of the 2025 OUA season with a spirited 2-2 draw against the McMaster Marauders on Sunday at Ron Joyce Stadium.
Algoma struck first in the 8th minute when Evan Hurren buried his first goal of the season to give the Thunderbirds an early lead. McMaster equalized midway through the half on a penalty, but Algoma remained composed, heading into the break locked at 1-1.
In the second half, the Marauders briefly pulled ahead in the 57th minute, but the Thunderbirds answered just ten minutes later. Brett Findlay finished off a clever setup from Hiroki Wada, tying the match at 2-2 and capping off a strong attacking performance.
Goalkeeper Joshua Bondoc was pivotal in earning the result, making six saves under pressure, including a key stop in the dying moments to preserve the point.
The result marks an important step forward for the Thunderbirds, showing their resilience and ability to finish chances against one of the OUA's toughest opponents.
