The Algoma Thunderbird Nordic Ski team competed at the recent Ontario Cup Race #3 hosted by the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club at Hiawath Highlands on the weekend of January 17th and 18th. The team had two skiers entered in the event:
Trysten Kahtava and
Emma Malone.
On the Saturday, January 17th in the Men's Free Technique Individual Sprint, Trysten finished in six place in the University/ College category with a time of 1:57.32. In the Women's Free Technique Individual Sprint, Emma finished with a time of 2:37.66 .
On Sunday only Emma competed in the 10 km Classic Technique Interval Start event and finished with a time of 48:18.1.
The team's next event is the Muskoka Loppet being held this upcoming weekend (January 24 & 25) and hosted by the Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club.
This year's Nordic Ski OUA Championship is being held February 20 to 22, 2026 at the Nakkertok Nordic Centre (Gatineau, QC) and hosted by the University of Ottawa.
