The Algoma Thunderbird Nordic Ski team competed at the OUA Nordic Ski Championships hosted by the University of Ottawa at the Nakkertok Nordic Centre (Gatineau, QC) on February 20th to the 22nd 2026. The team had two skiers entered in the event:
Trysten Kahtava and
Emma Malone.
On Friday, February 20th in the Men's Classic Technique 15 km race, Trysten finished in 48th place with a time of 1:00.41,5 . In the Women's Classic Technique 15 km race, Emma finished with a time of 1:27.13.3.
On Saturday. February 21st in the Men's Freestyle Technique 9 km race, Trysten finished 48th with a time of 30.22.7. In the Women's Freestyle Technique race Emma finished 56th with a time of 42.27.2 .
Head Coach of Algoma Thunderbird Nordic Ski Team Logan Bach had this to say about the team: "We are so proud of our athletes' performances at OUAs this past weekend! Through challenging conditions, they demonstrated great skills in both classic and skate techniques. Their dedication to their training this year was evident through these races and made for a great finale to the 2025-2026 race season."
