Head Coach of Algoma Thunderbird Trevor Manchester said "Representing Algoma University at the USports Championships this year, we had some great performances by our young Thunderbirds team. First year wrestler
Brandon Carrillo was a standout, winning his pool with no losses, however came up short in the gold medal match, losing by a single point (9-8). This caps off the an outstanding year for our rookie where Brandon was named an OUA 2nd team All-Star and a 2nd team All-Canadian in his first season.
Becca Gutteridge and
Lilah Fraser both came home with 4th place finishes after strong pool placings. The coaching staff is extremely proud of the amount of heart demonstrated by the entire team and we are alreday looking forward to next year where the future is bright."
