Are there any discounts available? Yes! *Algoma University staff are eligible for a 25% discount! This discount is not available online. My child has not played any sports before, are Algoma University camps the right fit? Certainly! Algoma University Summer Camps welcome children of all skill levels, including those who haven't played any sports before. Our camps are built on inclusivity, with campers grouped by age and skill levels to ensure personalized attention. Coaches are flexible in their approach, adapting activities to meet the needs of each group. They're also trained to adjust their teaching styles accordingly. Additionally, our March Break and PD Days Camps focus on campers pursuing experiential learning opportunities, building community, and engaging in critical and creative thinking while also incorporating physical activity every day.
Is there early drop off or late pick up available? Yes, both are available. This will be communicated to all registrants before your camp's start date. Early drop-offs are available between 8:00-9:00AM with pick-up between 4:00–4:30PM. Extended care pick-ups begin at 4:30 PM ($25).
Can my child bring electronics and toys to camp? While we discourage bringing electronics and toys to camp, we understand that some families may choose to allow their children to do so. Please note that the camp is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items. Unauthorized use of electronics (including cell phones) or disruptive use of toys during camp hours will result in the item being held by staff until the end of the day.
What if my child requires medication while at camp? The Camp Director can administer medications if required. Parents must fill out the emailed form, detailing dosage and administration times. Emergency medications (e.g., Epi-pen, inhaler) will be carried by the counselor in their emergency fanny pack.
I have a discount/free camp/etc from a previous year, how do I use it? Please contact Daniel Roy, GLC Operations Coordinator and he will provide further information regarding this.
What if my child becomes homesick at camp? If your child becomes homesick, staff will exhaust every effort to encourage participation and provide accommodations. Parents will be notified of the camper’s progress.
Where can I find lost items? Lost and found items are kept at the George Leach Centre. Contact your Camp Director to arrange pick-up. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the summer.
Where can I discuss my concerns about camps? Please contact Daniel Roy, GLC Operations Coordinator, with any concerns. You may also speak to any of our Camp Directors on-site. Sharing your concerns allows us to address issues quickly while improving the camp experience for everyone.
