Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Mara Roy has been playing soccer since the age of five. From a young age, she found her love as a goalkeeper. Roy made her way through the soccer system in Ontario, representing Ontario as a member of the provincial team. From there, she then attended Illinois State University on a full scholarship, in which she helped Illinois reach two NCAA tournament appearances. Roy also played for the Serbian Women’s National team.
Roy has been coaching for several years, most recently having served as Assistant Coach of the women’s soccer program at McMaster University from 2013 – 15. She is a private Goalkeeping Coach at ANB Futbol Academy in Southern Ontario, a position she has held since 2012. From 2014 – 15, she served as the Etobicoke Youth Soccer Club U14 girls’ Head Coach.
Mara holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Illinois State University and a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University.
