(SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont.): This past weekend, we hosted Waterloo for our Homecoming and Movember games! With fun activities and great prizes, the stands were full and the crowd brought some great energy!
On Friday, the women's had a great second quarter, scoring 20 points with Waterloo scoring one above them. Although this didn't make up for the first quarter, it was great to see some grit come from the team in their efforts to bounce back. It was in the fourth quarter that Waterloo took a major lead, winning the game with a score of 80-45.
Ashlyn Noble was the top scorer of the game with 14 points.
We saw some improvements in their game on Saturday. With
Rhianna Mae-Liang making her debut back on home court, we were excited for what was in store for this game! We saw some great plays from the team, but Waterloo once again took the win with a final score of 68-42. Top scorer of the game was
Sadie Grawbarger with 13 points.
On Friday, the men's team took a huge lead over the Warriors in the first quarter. With Waterloo creeping up in the other three quarters, they ended up taking the win with a score of 65-55. Top scorers of the game were
Taleh Wade and
Johan Germain. With the team playing well and a score that close, we were eager for Saturday's game.
On Saturday, the team had a rough start, with Waterloo scoring 11 points over the team. Algoma responded back in the second quarter, leaving us with a tie at half time. With it looking like it could be anyone's game, Algoma managed to pull a major lead in the fourth quarter to take their first win of the season! The team won 59-53, with
Taleh Wade being the top scorer of the game with 23 points. Congratulations Thunderbirds!
