(LONDON, Ont.): OUA basketball is back for the 2023/2024 season! With Ryan Vetrie leading the men's team, and Katie Hamilton leading the women's, we have been eagerly anticipating what is to come in the following months!
The teams started off with away games, facing the Western Mustangs this past Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the women's team lost by a score of 81-31. With Western only leading by 8 points in the first quarter, the teams saw the biggest difference in the second half of the game.
Gracie Rae Batongbakal scored 7 points for the team. On Saturday, the women managed to keep up for a closer game, losing by a score of 60-44 - a major improvement from the night before!
Qeila Mbonihankuye led the team with 11 points.
In the men's game on Friday,
Johan Germain led the team with 15 points. The team lost to Western with a score of 118-77. In their second game on Saturday,
Taleh Wade scored the team 20 points, with Algoma managing to score a point above Western in the second quarter. The team lost by 92-69.
