(SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont): In back to back home games, the Thundebrirds were faced with the challenged of playing against two different teams over this past weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 16th, the teams faced the York Lions. During the women's game,
Makayla Townes had an incredible 15 saves. The team lost by a score of 3-0. The men's team played well against York, but list 3-0.
Joshua Bondoc had five saves during the game.
On Sunday, Sept. 17th, the women faced the McMaster Marauders. They faced a tough loss of 11-0.
Megan Chandler had a total of 12 saves. The men's agme left us on the edge of our seats.
Gift Njehia won the team a penalty kick 36 minutes in. McMaster answered just before the end of the half, leaving us eager to watch the second half of the game.
Dhiraj Joshi scored the team another goal at the 54 minute mark. The team lost by a score of 3-2. Joshua made another five saves.
Next action for the Thunderbirds is Saturday, September 23rd against Waterloo at 1pm/3:15pm at Superior Heights. The teams will be warming up in orange shirts to show respect for this year's upcoming
Orange Shirt Day.
As this will also be the start of the OUA's Anti-Racism Week, revenue from the game will be donated to the
Shingwauk Anishinaabe Student Association Scholarship
